Historical Pedigree: Ch. Merry Of Beaufin

With an inbreeding coefficient of only 7.7% Merry was a drop ear bred in 1935 by Mr. E. Mainwaring and imported by Mr. H. D. Bixby, Vice President of the American Kennel Club at the time. She was selected for Mr. Bixby by Percy Roberts. Her place in history was established in 1939 as the first American Champion (Norwich) and the first American Drop Ear Champion Bitch. This daughter of Ch. Biffin Of Beaufin had an amazing 8 littermates and 4 full siblings, none champions. There were no champions among the 36 half siblings on her sire's side nor the two half siblings on her dam's side. Merry was bred only 3 times to 3 different stud dogs producing 11 total get so that she did not repeat the prolific producing record of her dam. Her first litter, by Mark of Beaufin, produced mostly prick ears including her one champion get, Ch. Peter Russet of Ways End. She was next bred to Witherslack Sport. Merry was described as red with dark markings on her ears and face.
