Born in 1980 with a very high inbreeding coefficient of 38.7% Spud had an excellent temperament: affectionate but would stand his ground when he should. He carried the famous Nanfan head and proved himself a strong sire producing Ch. Nanfan Crunch among his influential offspring. Spud had one littermate (non champion) and of his 4 full siblings, only one achieved her title. Of the 68 half siblings on his sire's side there were 7 champions, among them Eng. Ch. Nanfan Copycat, Eng. Ch. Nanfan Corndolly and Ch. Nanfan Corricle from the famous Nanfan "C" line. Three of the half siblings on his dam's side were champions, proving the value of both his sire and dam and subsequently Spud's own worth as a stud dog. Spud was bred only 14 times for a total of only 30 get, 7 of which were champions. He was bred 3 times to Eng. Ch. Nanfan Copycat to procuce 5 champion get, among them Ch. Nanfan Crunch.
