Bred by Mrs. M.G. & Miss Leslie Bunting, Smudge was born in 1973 and imported from England by Mrs. H.R. Slocum of Turkhill Kennels. Among her four littermates was Eng. Ch. Ragus Browned Off, another significant historical Norfolk. Six of her 23 full siblings completed their championship. With the famous Eng. Ch. Ragus Whipcord as her sire, she had 137 half-siblings on her sire's side, only ten of them achieving their titles. Her dam had no other progeny. Smudge was bred 4 times, all to champion sires, producing a total of 9 offspring. Only two of her puppies became champions of record. She was the top English Norfolk in 1974.
